Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
Location: Walled Lake, MI
Salary: Up to $130K
Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to become the in-house expert on their manufacturing equipment across all production lines. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and a hands-on approach, ensuring the optimization of processes and compliance with safety standards. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with Sales, R&D, Production, Quality, Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and Customer Service teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, define, and document existing manufacturing processes and workflows
- Perform continuous risk assessments and cost-reduction exercises
- Assist in developing processes for new products
- Troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency
- Create work instructions for change-overs and manufacturing
- Educate operators to improve and define manufacturing processes
- Maintain and update the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Collaborate with Plant Engineer, Maintenance, and vendors on projects
- Assist with the installation of new equipment
- Conduct Value Stream Mapping
- Perform other duties as assigned
- BS in Engineering –Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical
- 10+ years of related experience
- Technical knowledge of pumps, mixing equipment, and filtration
- Extensive knowledge of production principles and techniques
- Knowledge of industrial electronics
- Proficiency using MS Office and MS Project
- Proficiency using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, data analysis programs, and related software
- Experience with chemical handling or thermal drying
- Experience with web handling and roll-to-roll coating, glass manufacturing, or float glass manufacturing
- Experience with LEAN manufacturing (Green Belt)
- Project management skills
- Experienced or seasoned professionals
- Individuals who can "live on the line"and become the go-to expert on manufacturing equipment
- Generalists who understand the big picture, not specialists
- Those who have evaluated manufacturing lines, taken projects from planning to optimization, defined processes, created control plans, and educated team members
