Systems Engineer
Job Description
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team in Sterling Heights, MI. This role is critical to the engineering team, focusing on requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, and architecture development using SysML modeling. This position supports the Next Generation Combat Vehicle/Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (NGCV/OMFV) program.
Essential Functions:
- Analyze and review customer requirements for compliance and develop system operational concepts.
- Allocate and decompose requirements to subsystems and components, ensuring successful integration.
- Perform SysML modeling, including behavior, structure, and parametric modeling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to meet project objectives.
- Develop and maintain specifications at the product and subsystem levels.
- Support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in creating critical item specifications.
- Adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Systems Engineering manager.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build productive relationships.
- Excellent listening, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of self-motivation, adaptability, and organizational skills.
- Practical, hands-on approach with a focus on technical understanding.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aerospace, or related field).
- Desired: Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of systems engineering experience on DoD programs, with preference for ground vehicles.
- Proficiency in SysML modeling and requirements development.
- Familiarity with configuration control, baseline management, and presenting technical solutions.
Background Prerequisites:
- Must pass background checks, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain or maintain a SECRET US Defense clearance.
- Knowledge of military standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering standards (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288).
- Experience with Magic Draw Cameo and DOORS Next Gen tools.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Travel up to 25%, including occasional international trips.
