Program Protection Platform Engineer
Role Overview:
As a Program Protection Platform Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in the development and application of system security engineering and program protection strategies for major defense acquisition programs. This position requires a balance of technical expertise and strategic oversight to protect advanced defense capabilities, supporting integrated product teams (IPTs) and working cross-functionally to secure critical technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Security Engineering: Develop and apply system security engineering techniques for defense acquisition programs, creating comprehensive Program Protection Implementation Plans (PPIP).
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Collaborate with program office IPTs to assess security risks and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Subject Matter Expertise Collaboration: Work alongside experts in software/hardware assurance, cybersecurity, and supply chain risk management to address security risks in cutting-edge systems.
- Critical Analysis: Analyze critical program information, mission functions, and components to ensure the protection of advanced technology assets.
- C5ISR Integration & Compliance: Lead and integrate C5ISR technical scopes within project constraints, ensuring compliant, balanced, and integrated vehicle system designs.
- Cyber-Physical Security Best Practices: Develop and promote cyber-physical design best practices and tools across engineering teams, fostering a cybersecurity culture within the organization.
- Requirements Management: Manage platform requirements, architectures, system designs, and resolve any changes or conditions.
- Design Troubleshooting: Lead design and integration troubleshooting, including Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for production, development, and test-related projects.
- Compliance Review: Develop, evaluate, and review checkpoint and design milestone artifacts and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) to ensure accuracy and contract compliance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with platform design IPTs, focusing on threat analysis, requirements decomposition, and compliance.
- Peer Review Leadership: Participate in and lead peer reviews across engineering teams.
- Additional Responsibilities: Complete other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related science;relevant cyber technical certifications are also considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in engineering, technical development, or military-related projects.
- Technical Background: Familiarity with engineering requirements for military vehicle development and integration;understanding of higher-level customer requirements.
- Cybersecurity Experience: Background in cyber warfare (offensive/defensive), program protection planning, PPIP development, and cyber-physical security for embedded systems.
- Software & Hardware Knowledge: Experience with embedded systems, automotive/military electronics, and software principles.
- Tools & Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
- Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel up to 15% (mostly domestic, some international).
- Knowledge of various electrical line-replaceable units, electronic hardware development, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with cyber-physical security requirements specific to defense applications.
- Familiarity with system-level requirements management for complex engineering projects.
