Job Description

Job Summary
Our client is seeking a HIL/SIL Engineer to establish test and integration capabilities within their labs, supporting software verification engineers in test plan development, execution, and integration. This role requires expertise in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing environments, ensuring the successful validation of complex vehicle electronics systems.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain integration labs, identifying necessary test equipment, setting up environments, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Lead and supervise internal and external verification teams to execute software verification activities.
  • Create automated and manual test cases to ensure complete requirement coverage.
  • Identify and diagnose software defects, verifying software correctness and reporting results.
  • Manage software verification efforts to meet cost, quality, performance, and schedule requirements.
  • Develop and present test plans, procedures, and reports in accordance with DoD requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety and environmental regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience using NI and/or dSPACE tool suites for automated test development.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical interfaces (Ethernet, CAN, RS232/422/485, USB, etc.).
  • Proficiency in writing test scripts (C, C++, Python).
  • Familiarity with U.S. DoD ground vehicle requirements and military standards.
  • Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, including international engagement.
  • Ability to obtain an active U.S. Security clearance.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Systems, Software, Aerospace, or Automotive).
Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in software verification, HIL/SIL, or technology integration.
  • Experience preparing software verification artifacts and presenting at Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) for DoD programs.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Integration Lab Scheduler tools.
  • Experience working in a multinational, multi-organizational corporate environment.
Background Prerequisites
  • Must pass a background check, employment verification, reference checks, and substance testing.
  • Must obtain and maintain a government security clearance if required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in physical testing and HIL/SIL.
  • Ability to speak German is a plus.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Systems, Software, Aerospace, or Automotive).
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Availability for overtime as needed.
