Job Description
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to drive the design, development, and integration of complex military combat vehicle software systems at their Sterling Heights, MI office. This role requires a proven leader with expertise in software engineering, systems integration, and U.S. Defense programs.
Essential Functions:
- Lead a software team, focusing on team building, process development (e.G., DevSecOps, Agile), and tool setup.
- Plan project schedules, budgets, and manage bids and proposals.
- Oversee vehicle software development, including requirements analysis, system integration, and software safety design.
- Research and implement solutions for military systems integration.
- Develop software documentation (e.G., SSDD, SRS, UML modeling).
- Conduct software testing, integration, and lab development.
- Provide technical support for prototypes, testing, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal/external customers and suppliers.
- Support international travel for technology transfer when needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applied expertise in software engineering, systems integration, and product lifecycle development.
- Proficiency in digital, analog, RF, and power electronics.
- Familiarity with U.S. DoD vehicle development standards, TACOM/TARDEC organizations, and Military Standards.
- Strong technical presentation skills and experience with technical consultation.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with VICTORY, FACE, GCIA, NGVA & MOSA standards.
- Experience with TCP/IP, DDS, Real-Time OS, Linux, and embedded C/C++.
- Knowledge of lab equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
- German language proficiency and Ph.D. In Engineering (desired).
Education:
- Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer Science, Systems, Software, Aerospace, etc.).
Experience:
- 15+ years in delivering large-scale U.S. Defense programs.
- Expertise in C5ISR systems, software architecture, and cybersecurity.
- Experience with bid capture, contract negotiations, and regulated industries.
Background Prerequisites:
- Must meet standards for background checks, employment verification, and controlled substance testing.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- International travel may be required.
