Sr. Software Engineer
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to lead the requirements generation, design, development, and integration of complex military combat vehicle software systems. This role involves hands-on software engineering, system integration, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop cutting-edge defense technologies.
Essential Functions
- Develop and integrate vehicle software solutions.
- Analyze, derive, and manage software requirements.
- Research, simulate, and evaluate software solutions for system performance.
- Perform trade studies and develop requirement specifications.
- Utilize SysML modeling, rapid prototyping, Agile development, and DevSecOps methodologies.
- Implement and integrate software life-cycle tools (Git, Jira, Confluence, Kubernetes, CANoe, Matlab/Simulink, Labview).
- Support software verification, testing, and system integration activities.
- Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with external customers and suppliers.
- Support prototype development, SIL/HIL integration, and field testing.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET U.S. Defense clearance.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering principles and system integration.
- Experience presenting technical solutions to stakeholders.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative, high-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally for technology transfer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer Science, Software, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive, or related field).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Expertise in Real-Time OS (RTOS), Linux, Embedded C/C++.
- Experience with UML/SysML Model-Based Software Development.
- Proficiency with Confluence, DOORS NG, and MS Office.
- Knowledge of standard bus protocols (J1939 CANBus, RS422/485, 802.3 Ethernet) and networking (TCP/IP, DDS, Multicast).
- Familiarity with x86, ARM, GPU, FPGA architectures.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
- Experience in highly regulated industries and multinational corporate environments.
- Background in proposal activities, bid capture, and contract negotiations.
- Must pass background checks, employment verification, and controlled substance testing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance if required.
- Experience delivering large-scale U.S. Defense programs.
- Knowledge of U.S. DoD ground vehicle requirements and military standards.
- Familiarity with military Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence (C5ISR) systems.
- Experience with fire control systems, stabilization, and coordinate transformation algorithms.
- Understanding of VICTORY, FACE, GCIA & MOSA standards.
- May require occasional travel and extended work hours.
- Ability to work in both office and lab environments.
- Physical requirements vary but may include standing, lifting, and working with test equipment.
