Location: Clinton Twp, MI- Onsite
Direct Hire, With Great benefits
Pay/Salary: $26+ an hour and up Depending on experience.
Work Hours: Office hours 8: 30 am - 5: 30 pm (flexible start until 9: 30 am), 50-55 hours during tax season, Saturdays required during tax season. Overtime paid after 40 hours.
Experience: 3+ years
Education: bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Software Knowledge: Strong QuickBooks experience, Knowledge of Thomson Reuters (Tax & Accounting Software)
Our client is a full-service Accounting firm licensed in MI. They offer a broad range of services for business owners, executives, and independent professionals. They are recognized as a leader in assisting small and medium sized businesses in forming, growing, and managing their business.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reports.
- Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements toclient’s management and stakeholders.
Tax Compliance:
- Prepare corporate income tax returns in compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company's tax strategies are optimized.
- Assist with tax planning to minimize the company's tax liabilities.
Client Consultation:
- Collaborate with clients to gather financial information and assess their specific tax situations.
- Provide expert advice on tax implications of financial decisions, estate planning, and wealth transfer strategies.
- Assist clients in understanding complex tax concepts and strategize ways to minimize tax burdens.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of state and trust tax returns, adhering to all regulatory deadlines.
- Maintain organized records of all client-related tax documentation and correspondence.
- Respond to tax authorities'inquiries and manage audits when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree or advanced taxation coursework is a plus- Preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in state and trust taxation, preferably within a CPA firm or financial advisory setting.
- Strong understanding of state tax codes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and financial accounting software.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex tax concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritize tasks effectively.
