About the Role
As an Advanced Electrical Engineer supporting our client’s optical and communications systems programs, you will contribute to the design, development, and verification of advanced electrical components and systems. You will work with cross-functional design teams spanning optics, mechanics, and software to support technologies in free-space optical (FSO) and fiber optic communications, photonic integrated circuits, and optical sensing and imaging systems.
Key Responsibilities

Participate in electrical requirements analysis, definition, functional analysis, and integration

Plan and lead root cause analysis for electrical issues
-
Conduct experimental testing and evaluate results to develop solutions

Support documentation generation and maintenance for electrical systems
-
Specify, select, and qualify active and passive components
-
Develop and benchmark system performance models
-
Create and implement test procedures and select appropriate test instrumentation
-
Collaborate with optical, mechanical, and software teams throughout system development
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field
-
5+ years of relevant experience (or Master’s degree plus 3 years)

U.S. Citizenship required
-
Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
-
Strong mixed-signal circuit design and analysis skills (HyperLynx, Cadence, LTspice preferred)
-
Knowledge of CAD tools such as Xpedition or Allegro
-
Familiarity with electrical assembly and communications test tools (BERT, sampling oscilloscopes, OSA)
-
Experience in high-speed and mixed-signal RF design (3 Gbps and above)

Power electronics and panel design experience (SMPS, power entry modules, transient suppression)

Collaborative problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

Software familiarity with C++, Matlab, VHDL, or Python

R&D rapid turnaround experience (concept, design, modeling, prototyping, vendor interface, and testing)

Experience leading small teams and presenting technical information to varied audiences

Motivated to drive innovation in design architectures, assembly, component selection, and electronics design

Experience mentoring and supporting professional development of others
