About the Role
Our client, a leader in advanced defense technologies, is seeking an experienced Advanced System Admin Specialist to support mission-critical systems that help protect national security. In this hands-on role, you’ll support both physical and virtual environments, perform system upgrades, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure high availability across multiple operating systems.
You’ll work with cutting-edge tools and emerging technologies—AI, Cloud, Cyber, and more—while supporting a team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Key Responsibilities

Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers across multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX).

Install and update software, apply OS and vendor patches, and maintain system security and compliance.

Monitor server performance, analyze alerts, and resolve issues impacting users and services.

Support network interfaces, storage, virtualization platforms, and backup/recovery processes.

Work directly with end users to identify, isolate, and resolve technical issues.

Automate routine processes using scripting tools (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

Maintain documentation, contribute to system improvements, and support evolving technologies.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience
–OR – Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience

Active DoD Secret security clearance
-
Strong understanding of server OS environments, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and cybersecurity best practices

Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and system monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, etc.)

Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues

Scripting experience for automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
