Analog Power Design Engineer
Job Description
Location: McLeansville, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract
Are you an experienced electrical engineer with a passion for designing advanced power systems? CPI is seeking an Analog Power Design Engineer to join a cross-functional team developing innovative undersea communication systems. In this role, you’ll take ownership of complex power system designs, troubleshoot challenging problems, and contribute to projects that make a real-world impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-voltage DC power systems and modules.
- Apply expertise in multiple power topologies, from small converters to kilowatt-scale systems.
- Conduct circuit design, mixed signal analysis, and instrumentation development.
- Perform feedback and control system design, power system architecture, and grounding.
- Develop and test isolated switching converters and address transmission line effects.
- Apply EMI testing and control methods (MIL-STD-461, FCC, IDE, VDE).
- Use CAD tools and specialized lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.) for design, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Write specifications, requirements, and verification procedures for complex systems.
- Lead design teams and collaborate across disciplines to drive innovation in electronics design.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field, plus 8 years of relevant experience;or Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract requirements.
Preferred Skills
- High-voltage applications, power transmission, and HVDC technology.
- Magnetics design and high-speed design.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to isolate failure points.
- Research & Development experience with advanced proficiency in testing and circuit card analysis.
- Experience writing specifications and requirements for electronic systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills in technical team environments.
- Ability to travel as needed.
