CAE Engineer CFD
Provide support to global fuel system D&R engineers to reduce product development time and achieve fail proof/cost-effective design solutions through Thermal/CFD simulations and recommendations Be able to carry out 3D CFD simulations and/or 1D flow/hydraulic simulations Typical CFD/Thermal analyses that need support involve: pressure drop/flow assessment in fuel systems, fuel tank filling and slosh analyses, flow through filter media, and thermal performance of fuel systems Carry out NVH risk assessment and analyze fluidic resonance frequency, mode shapes and frequency response of fuel distribution system Collaborate with core engineering team and develop simplified math models or tool to make designing and testing more efficient Support Fuel Systems GPDS process and carry out CAE DV plan for vehicle programs Interpret test/simulation results and explain their consequence on part functionality and performance to product engineer to assist design and problem solving process. Work with teams in other Ford departments: Thermal/Aero System Engineering (TASE), GEE and Research and Innovation Center (RIC) Participate in developing new CAE methodologies tackling current and future design problems; for example: a) Freeze/thaw simulation for urea tanks; b) Utilize vehicle front end, under-hood and underbody thermal/flow fields leading to Fuel tank Temperature Profile (FTTP) assessment and c) Evaluate need of thermal shield early in design cycle
Knowledge and experience of 1) pre-processing software: ANSA is a must; and 2) Thermal/CFD software such as: Star CCM+, Fluent, Radtherm, are required. Knowledge of tools such as: AMESIM, GT-Suite, MATLAB is required Knowledge of Catia will be helpful Analytical problem solving skills Hands-on lab experience is highly preferred Good communication, leadership and team working skills.
At least 2 years of experience in fuel system Thermal/CFD simulation required
Bachelor's in Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering field is required.
PhD or Master's degree in Mechanical, or related engineering field is preferred. Solid education and background in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer required
