Certified Welding Inspector
Location: Lansing, MI
Hourly: $28-$32 per hour (depending on experience)
Shift: 1st & 2nd available 
Employment Type: Direct Hire with Great Benefits!

Summary: As a Certified Welding Inspector, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that welded products and structures meet stringent quality and safety standards. You'll be responsible for conducting visual inspections, identifying defects, and verifying that welding processes adhere to engineering specifications. Additionally, you'll contribute to the training of new welders, helping to maintain and enhance the skillset of our workforce.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform visual inspections on welded products and structures, both in progress and upon completion.
  • Identify defects such as cracks and pits, using magnification when necessary.
  • Verify weld machine setup and welding techniques to maintain quality standards.
  • Record test results and inspection findings accurately.
  • Conduct hands-on weld sample tests using company equipment.
  • Collaborate with Welding Department Team Leaders to provide ongoing training for existing welders.

  • Adherence to Policy: Follow company policies and standards, including AS9100 and IS14001.
  • Adherence to Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification required.
  • Minimum of three years'experience in welding required.
  • ASNT non-destructive examination (NDE) Level 2 certification desirable.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Capability to solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands:
  • Occasional standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
