Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Civil Engineer/EIT ( Engineering in Training) to assist in the planning, design, entitlement, and construction of various projects. This role involves collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other professionals to develop detailed plans and drawings using AutoCAD/Civil 3D. The position offers hybrid flexibility, allowing work from our client's Grand Rapids office or remotely in Idaho and Northern Arizona markets.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for civil engineering projects, including site development, transportation, and utilities.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D to create detailed drawings and models based on project requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop design concepts, layouts, and construction details that meet regulatory requirements.
- Gather and analyze surveys, topographic data, utility locations, zoning requirements, and local jurisdictional codes.
- Assess site conditions, identify constraints, and develop optimized land use and infrastructure design solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design memoranda to support project planning and regulatory compliance.
- Review engineering plans, specifications, and standards to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Maintain organized project documentation, including drawings, correspondence, and design revisions.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to clarify design requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and construction site visits as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of civil engineering experience, preferably in land development.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles, including site grading, drainage, and utility design.
- Proven ability to successfully deliver complex projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
