Crew Station Hardware Mechanical Engineer
Sterling Heights, MI

About the Role:

The role involves applying engineering principles to develop solutions for complex challenges, focusing on mechanical packaging, layout optimization, and environmental requirements for combat vehicles.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Develop and analyze thermal models and optimize heat transfer for electronic components.
  • Conduct gap analysis for thermal interface materials to enhance heat transfer efficiency.
  • Perform shock and vibration analysis to optimize design and minimize testing efforts.
  • Conduct modal analysis and sway estimates for components on isolators.
  • Calculate design margins for solder joint failures during shock and vibration events.
  • Interpret and apply ASME standards, and work with both 2D and 3D CAD environments.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality inspection, and machine design.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Sought:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with solid modeling in NX and Creo, and familiarity with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
Additional Information / Desired Experience:
  • Eligibility for US security clearance may be required.
  • Experience with ground combat vehicles is preferred.
  • Ability to work in and around military vehicles, including passing the ASR test.
  • Strong skills in communication, interpersonal relations, and organization.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime, including evenings and weekends.
  • Familiarity with mechanical industry standards and military requirements is desired.
