Location: Manassas, VA
Work Arrangement: Primarily On-Site (Limited Remote After 6 Months)
Position Overview
General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a CWL Advanced Systems Engineer to support the system engineering and functional design of Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) systems.
As part of a cross-functional engineering team, this role supports payload integration, weapon launch interlocks, weapon simulation, message exchanges, user interfaces, and cybersecurity. The successful candidate will ensure system requirements, specifications, and standards are complete, accurate, and delivered to support customer review, approval, development, and test activities.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM discipline

Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience
-
OR Master’s degree plus 3 years of job-related experience
-
-
Agile development experience preferred
-
Active Department of Defense Secret clearance required at time of hire
-
Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
Key Responsibilities
-
Perform system engineering and functional design for CWL systems
-
Support payload integration and weapon launch interlock development
-
Contribute to weapon simulation, message exchanges, and user interface design
-
Support cybersecurity considerations within system architectures
-
Ensure system requirements and technical specifications are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable standards

Deliver system documentation in support of customer reviews, approvals, development, and test
Preferred Skills and Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
-
5+ years of experience in an engineering role, preferably within the defense industry

Experience with:

Computer system architectures

Cybersecurity principles

Linux or embedded operating systems

Strong written and verbal communication skills
