Cyber Engineer
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract

Are you ready to lead critical cyber engineering initiatives that support next-generation ground combat platforms? CPI is seeking a Cyber Engineering Manager to oversee cyber architecture, compliance, and system integration within C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance) systems. In this role, you’ll guide a cross-functional engineering team and help deliver secure, innovative solutions that enhance mission readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage cyber engineering tasks, ensuring integrated, compliant cyber designs across vehicle systems.
  • Develop, manage, and enforce system requirements, including performance, reliability, and SWaP-CRaM (Space, Weight, Power, Cooling, Reliability, and Maintenance).
  • Oversee architecture and system design activities, including requirement changes, trade-offs, and alternatives.
  • Guide trade studies for system and subsystem designs, balancing performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Support development and execution of verification plans, including test and field verification.
  • Lead design and integration troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including milestone artifacts and CDRLs.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) on threat analysis, interfaces, and requirements compliance.
  • Evaluate new cyber and C5ISR technologies for potential implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity regulations and standards (e.G., NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53).

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (technical certifications and management credentials considered).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering or military projects.
  • U.S. Citizenship required (government contract requirement).
  • Active or obtainable U.S. Security clearance.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Leadership experience in engineering or technical development projects.
  • Cyber engineering expertise with embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with TARA (Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment), cross-domain solutions, and Cyber Tabletop Exercises (CTTX).
  • Experience developing and managing cyber requirements for military or automotive systems.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber warfare (offensive/defensive) and cyber-physical system security.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain cybersecurity documentation (SSPs, POA&Ms, etc.).
  • Familiarity with electronic hardware, LRUs (Line Replaceable Units), and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
  • Ability to travel up to 15% (domestic and limited international).
  • Comfortable working in and around military vehicles;must be able to pass Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) testing for confined spaces.
