Senior Software Engineer
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Employment Type: Contract | Hours: 40 hrs/week
Pay Range: $55.95 per hour

About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and maintain advanced laboratory integration and test environments, supporting electronic hardware and software at vehicle component, sub-system, and platform levels. You will work hands-on with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems, emulation tools, and complex electro-mechanical systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams on-site and remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory integration and test environments.

  • Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems and vehicle platform integration.

  • Debug complex electro-mechanical systems and perform cable troubleshooting, building, and repair.

  • Collaborate with remote and on-site teams to run system-level tests and simulations.

  • Develop and run scripts for testing and integration using Python, BASH, or NI TestStand.

  • Work with Linux and Windows operating systems to maintain software and lab environments.

  • Support system-level use case tests and simulation model execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with cable troubleshooting, hardware integration, and system debugging.

  • Familiarity with computer networking principles (VLANs, switch configuration).

  • Knowledge of multiple communication protocols and simulation models.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for on-site and remote teamwork.

  • Eligible for a Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience with serial data protocols and tools (CAN, MIL-STD-1553), Ethernet protocols, and Wireshark.

  • Knowledge of Windows event logs, NI TestStand, and C/C++.

  • Embedded real-time software verification experience.
