Mechanical Engineer
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Employment Type: Contract | Hours: 40 hrs/week
Pay Range: $52.70 –$60.03 per hour

About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll design, develop, and release critical mechanical systems for military ground vehicles, including LRU mounting, shock and vibration attenuation, radio racks, brush guards, and stowage solutions. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and environmental standards, while supporting prototype and production builds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate LRU mounts, stowage, and mechanical elements into vehicles.

  • Apply mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles.

  • Perform system analysis and component selection for sensors, cables, handles, springs, pedals, and mechanisms.

  • Support projects with analysis, CAD models, drawings, and source data for engineering changes.

  • Participate in prototype and production builds, integration reviews, fit checks, and corrective action.

  • Conduct testing, evaluation, and failure analysis of mechanical systems.

  • Oversee CAD model and drawing development using NX or Creo, adhering to ASME standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in defense, aerospace, or automotive engineering;military vehicle experience preferred.

  • Experience with NX or Creo, Teamcenter, and Vis Mockup.

  • Knowledge of GD&T and ASME drafting standards.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vehicle shock/vibration systems, stowage integration, or LRU mounting.

  • Prototype and production build support experience.

  • Experience with ground combat vehicles and hands-on integration activities.

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime.

Additional Details

  • Eligibility to obtain a US security clearance may be required.

  • Work includes collaboration with top-tier engineering teams and hands-on prototyping.

  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
