Job Description

An eDrive Controller Electronics Engineer will be responsible for design, analysis, testing and verification of eDrive inverter system controller and gate drive functionality and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams for function and performance requirements capturing, FMA document development. Candidate will also include supporting eDrive system function verification, troubleshooting, and conducting root cause analysis, and benchmarking.
 
The Electrified Systems Engineering (ESE) organization is responsible for delivering the best fuel economy and refined Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Battery Electric vehicles in every segment in which we contend.
 
Daily Tasks:
  • Conduct multi-functional activities in development of the requirements of the controller for electric drive system
  • Conduct Inverter controller and gate drive board circuit design/schematics/layout, EMI reduction, fault tolerance/protection/diagnostic, and ensure on time delivery
  • Develop circuit function verification method, conduct function verification test and troubleshooting
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis for field issues
  • Support low level software development for the controller’ s microprocessor.
  • Support Hardware-in-the-Loop Test, High Voltage Lab test, Motor Dyno Test, Vehicle Test, EMC test, etc.
  • Support Inverter Benchmark activities.
  • Conduct deep dive analysis of controller and gate drive circuits.
  • Share and present work to multi-functional teams and leadership
  • Ensure overall quality of product throughout the entire design process
 
Experience Required:
  • 2+ years of experience in Electrical and/or electronics design. (coursework/co-op/internship experience during PhD studies allowed)
  • 2+ years of experience of hands-on or EDA/simulation tools (e.G. Cadence, Matlab, Spice, Saber, etc.)
 
Education Required:
  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Combination of education and equivalent experience will also be considered
 
Education Preferred:
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics
