Senior Electrical Design Specialist
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Employment Type: Contract | Hours: 40 hrs/week
Pay Range: $51.75 per hour

About the Role
As a Senior Electrical Design Specialist, you will design, draft, and validate electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment for military ground vehicles. You will create wiring harnesses, layout drawings, schematic diagrams, and line replaceable unit (LRU) chassis and housing designs. This role requires translating concepts into production-ready designs while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and suitability for configuration management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design wiring harnesses, perform layout drawings, and check schematic diagrams.

  • Create wiring diagrams from schematics and vice versa.

  • Perform overall LRU chassis and housing design, including system packaging.

  • Select components including electrical connectors, wire, shielding, terminal lugs, and accessories.

  • Ensure design outputs are suitable for entry into data management and configuration control.

  • Develop product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration/verification procedures.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide clear technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 9+ years of experience;or relevant Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of experience.

  • Minimum 2 years experience generating drawings using Creo Pro-Cable.

  • Expertise in CAD drafting/modeling, electrical/electronic systems, and wiring harness design.

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/14.41, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience with Siemens Capital Harness logical data routing.

  • Proficiency in Visio Technical for wiring schematics.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and team-working skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with military electrical connectors, cabling specifications, and electro-mechanical engineering tools.

  • Experience with system packaging, verification, and validation of simple sub-systems.
