Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and integrate advanced electronic (vetronics) and power distribution systems for military combat vehicles. This position is based in Sterling Heights, MI. If you have at least five years of experience in vetronics and hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, we encourage you to apply.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct requirements analysis, decomposition, and management activities.
- Research and analyze solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Perform trade studies and develop vehicle electrical and power distribution concepts.
- Create and maintain electrical power budgets, drawings, schematics, and interface control documents (ICDs).
- Integrate military lethality, survivability, and C5ISR systems.
- Support designs for CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, power distribution, and harnesses.
- Develop and execute test requirements and plans, analyzing results.
- Support prototype development, system-integration labs (SIL), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) activities.
- Interact with internal/external customers and suppliers.
- Maintain project schedules and prepare/present project status updates.
- Troubleshoot issues and perform corrective actions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of systems model-based design, digital/analog electronics, power systems, and RF technologies.
- Familiarity with DoD ground vehicle requirements and acquisition processes.
- Ability to explain complex concepts and establish productive relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to motivate teams.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Eligible for a SECRET U.S. Defense clearance.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer Science, Systems, Aerospace, or Automotive).
Experience:
- At least five years of vetronics experience.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment and military C5ISR systems.
- Familiarity with standard bus protocols (CANBus, Ethernet, Serial).
- Proven ability to deliver large, complex U.S. Defense programs.
Background Prerequisites:
- Successful completion of background checks, employment verification, and substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- German language skills are a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Domestic and international travel may be required.
