Electro-Optics Engineer
Annapolis Junction, MD
Up to $51.14/hour
Position Overview
Seeking an Electro-Optics Engineer to support development of advanced photonic and laser-based systems used in communications, sensing, and imaging applications. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and integrating optical and photonic technologies for next-generation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test electro-optical and photonic systems

  • Support development of free-space optical (FSO) and fiber optic communication systems

  • Collaborate with device, hardware, and software engineering teams

  • Specify and evaluate active and passive optical components

  • Develop system performance models and benchmarks

  • Create and execute optical test procedures

  • Select and utilize optical test and measurement equipment

  • Support hardware prototyping, integration, and field testing

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field

  • 2+ years of relevant experience, OR

  • Master’s degree with 6 months of relevant experience

  • Understanding of electrical and optical engineering principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with optical lab testing, hardware integration, or system testing

  • Familiarity with optical communications test equipment

  • Experience or interest in hardware prototyping and field testing

  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB, Lumerical, Zemax, VPI, Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW

  • Agile development experience
