Embedded Linux/RTOS Software Developer
Job Description
Be at the forefront of innovation: We're seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer to join our team at a prestigious aerospace and defense company. In this role, you'll contribute to the design, development, and support of cutting-edge embedded software solutions for a globally recognized producer of land-based combat vehicles.
On-site Presence:
Hybrid - Due to the nature of the work, this role may require on-site presence up to 100%
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and configure VxWorks, Linux, or other embedded operating systems to advance capabilities.
- Execute Linux system programming tasks, including driver development and hardware enablement for embedded Linux systems.
- Integrate diverse software into robust build systems to elevate solutions.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions, ensuring consistent improvements.
- Employ cryptography and secure architectures to safeguard embedded systems.
- Efficiently manage individual priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver exceptional results.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with an emphasis on Software Development.
- 3-5 years of experience in a software role.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting low-level software issues and distinguishing between hardware and software problems.
- Strong skills in developing sustainable C and / or C++ code.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and multitasking skills.
- Flexibility to accommodate occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
- Willingness to travel to support offsite loads and testing when necessary.
Additional Skills Desired:
- Familiarity with Linux device drivers, bootloaders, or other system programming
- Experience with safety-critical systems or real-time systems
- Proficiency with build environments like Build root, Open Embedded, or especially Yocto
- Familiarity with GIT, DOORs, Jira / Bitbucket / Confluence, gdb, or QT
- Knowledge of security features like SELinux, verified boot, and trusted execution environments
- Strong written and oral communication skills
