Position Description:
The Enhanced Central Gateway Design and Release Engineer (ECG D&R) is a new and challenging role that requires electronic, software and project management skills to deliver valuable, modern, and highly distributed features to the customer. The ECG is the center of all the electronic communications across the vehicle. It enables communication across the different CAN and Ethernet networks, it provides security, data analytics, and multiple remote services like vehicle monitoring and vehicle commands. The ECG is also responsible for executing the different methods for software updates. Including " OBDII, USB and Over the Air”. The ECG goes beyond legacy CAN-based diagnostics and troubleshooting into a Unix-like environment with modern architecture and scripting capabilities. This position will handle multiple vehicle programs and variants (applications) with increasing degrees of sophistication as the functionality for new vehicle programs can be extended through software updates and new " apps”. RESPONSIBILITIES • Evaluate program definition to determine content and market variations. • Lead Statement of Work/RFQ package completion • Interface with Electrical team and support program deliverables. (Integrator, ASAP, AVBOM, VSEM, FIP, Waterfall, Design to Target, eFDVS, etc.) • Define and manage functional and electrical interfaces • Conduct design reviews with interfacing Ford activities, including core engineering, supplier engineering and other internal departments (software, hardware, mechanical, etc...) • Lead program specific Failure Mode Avoidance (DFMEA) • Vehicle build support (BOM validation, Breadboards, Vehicle Prototypes / NMPDC, vehicle builds, launch, etc.) • Manage Engineering changes. DCR, ED&T, CNE-DF approval, AVBOM CMF, WERS, Change Control, etc. • Support component and vehicle testing in different environments (bench, breadboard, HIL, road trips, etc.)
Experience Required:
4+ years of application experience in engineering disciplines (engineering specifications, requirements management, design validation, change management, root cause and failure mode analysis, 8D, six sigma, etc.) 2+ Years of experience with Design and Release for automotive electronic controllers (ECUs) and embedded software 1+ years of experience with CAN networking tools, diagnostic protocols, and troubleshooting 1+ Experience with program launch
Education Required:
Bachelor' s Degree in Electrical, Software, or a related engineering field
