Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) Mechanic (Contract)
Location: Oceanside, CA

Are you an experienced military vehicle mechanic with Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) experience? We’re seeking a skilled ACV Mechanic to support vehicle testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fielding operations. In this role, you’ll work closely with Field Service Representatives to keep mission-critical vehicles operational and ready for deployment.

This is a hands-on position supporting advanced military vehicle systems and ensuring minimal disruption to operational testing and field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair on Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV)

  • Support Field Service Representatives (FSR) during testing, troubleshooting, and fielding operations

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and drivetrain systems

  • Identify and replace defective components and repair parts

  • Interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics

  • Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, depth gauges, and finish gauges

  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and shop machinery

  • Assist with vehicle de-processing and delivery to operational units

  • Help ensure minimal disruption to testing and operational readiness

Required Experience

  • 3–4 years of Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) maintenance experience

  • 3–4 years of Cursor 16 engine experience or FIAT Powertrain training

  • 3–4 years working with Allison 4800 Series transmissions or Allison certification

  • Strong understanding of military vehicle troubleshooting and repair procedures

  • Knowledge of military maintenance systems and technical documentation

Military Background (Preferred)
Candidates with the following MOS backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply:

  • 2141 –Assault Amphibious Vehicle Repairer

  • 2147 –Light Armored Vehicle Repairer

  • 2149 –Engineer Equipment Repairer

  • 3521 –Motor Transport Mechanic

  • 2110 –Small Arms Repairer/Technician

Additional experience supporting a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is strongly preferred.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Military technical training, automotive/heavy equipment training, or Associate’s degree preferred

  • Additional mechanical, electrical, or electronic maintenance experience may be considered in place of formal education

Additional Skills

  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and engineering schematics

  • Experience using precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work safely around heavy military vehicles and equipment
