Field Service Engineer –Industrial Press Equipment
Location: Canton, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Pay: $35–$45/hour (based on experience)
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer with strong hydraulic troubleshooting experience to support the installation, repair, and maintenance of large-scale industrial press and forming equipment throughout North America. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled professional who enjoys travel, solving complex equipment issues, and working directly with customers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and assemble heavy industrial press equipment at customer sites
  • Diagnose and repair complex hydraulic systems, including cylinders, pumps, valves, manifolds, and hydraulic circuits
  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and limited electrical troubleshooting
  • Support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and recommend repairs
  • Read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic schematics, electrical drawings, and bills of material
  • Identify service, repair, and equipment upgrade opportunities
  • Complete accurate service reports and documentation
  • Provide emergency on-call support, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2–5+ years of field service, machine building, or industrial maintenance experience
  • Strong hydraulic troubleshooting experience is required
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, hoses, manifolds, and hydraulic control systems
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working on heavy industrial machinery, presses, or forming equipment
  • Ability to work independently in customer environments
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license and valid passport
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or Journeyman certification
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Experience servicing OEM manufacturing equipment
  • German language skills are a plus
