Field Service Technician

Location: Canton, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Pay: $35–$45/hour (based on experience)
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer with strong hydraulic troubleshooting experience to support the installation, repair, and maintenance of large-scale industrial press and forming equipment throughout North America. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled professional who enjoys travel, solving complex equipment issues, and working directly with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and assemble heavy industrial press equipment at customer sites
- Diagnose and repair complex hydraulic systems, including cylinders, pumps, valves, manifolds, and hydraulic circuits
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and limited electrical troubleshooting
- Support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and recommend repairs
- Read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic schematics, electrical drawings, and bills of material
- Identify service, repair, and equipment upgrade opportunities
- Complete accurate service reports and documentation
- Provide emergency on-call support, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–5+ years of field service, machine building, or industrial maintenance experience
- Strong hydraulic troubleshooting experience is required
- Experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, hoses, manifolds, and hydraulic control systems
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience working on heavy industrial machinery, presses, or forming equipment
- Ability to work independently in customer environments
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license and valid passport
- Associate degree or Journeyman certification
- Electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience servicing OEM manufacturing equipment
- German language skills are a plus
- Full-time, Direct Hire position with excellent benefits
- 100% travel throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
