Firepower Hardware Engineer –Weapon Systems Integration
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time | Hours: 40 hrs./week, Mon–Fri
Pay Range: $45.00-$47.00
About the Role:
Join our client’s innovative engineering team, specializing in advanced gun and turret drive systems for ground combat vehicles. In this role, you will design and integrate complex weapon system components and hardware for both legacy and next-generation defense platforms. You’ll contribute to critical defense programs that enhance soldier safety and mission capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop articulating, locking, or sliding mechanisms that meet Human Factors requirements.
- Provide CAD modeling, installation, and detailed drawings in support of concurrent engineering activities.
- Support prototype build, procurement, and on-site integration;resolve technical and design issues.
- Perform tolerance stack analysis and interpret complex technical drawings.
- Conduct preliminary design and analysis from system-level requirements.
- Perform failure analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Write technical reports, modification instructions, and design documentation.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams within an Integrated Product Team environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (with relevant weapon systems experience).
- 5–7 years of professional engineering experience.
- Proficiency with CAD software (Creo preferred).
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and technical drawings.
- Working knowledge of Teamcenter or similar PLM tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills;self-starter with high motivation.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for a security clearance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to work in office, shop, plant, lab, and test site environments, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ground combat vehicles or weapon system integration.
- Knowledge of FEA tools such as ANSA, Nastran, or LS-DYNA.
- Familiarity with ammunition feed systems and turret/racering designs.
- Experience supporting prototype development and system-level integration.
- Additional Details:
