Grind Machine Operator

Job Description
Are you an experienced machine operator with a passion for precision and quality? Join a dynamic and growing team at a leading manufacturer specializing in mechanical products, fabricated structures, and systems. We are seeking a dedicated Grind Machine Operator to set up and operate precision gear grinding machinery, ensuring the production of high-quality gears for various industries.
Compensation: Up to $22/hr based on skills and experience.
2nd Shift: 4: 30pm-3: 00am M-F with occasional Saturdays. 40-50 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent.
- 5-7 years of related experience and/or training in precision gear grinding, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of job techniques, skills, equipment, procedures, and materials.
- Ability to produce high-quality work with little to no rework required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Capacity to perform tasks independently and take initiative without direct supervision.
- Commitment to safety procedures, including the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Knowledge of quality environmental policies, AS9100, and IS14001 standards.
- Set up and operate precision gear grinding machines with special indexing equipment.
- Utilize automatic dressing devices to shape grinding wheels to specified profiles.
- Adjust synchronized rotation speeds and feed rates for optimal grinding performance.
- Secure workpieces on mandrels or chucks and position them accurately using gauges, dial indicators, and micrometers.
- Manage coolant flow to ensure proper cooling during the grinding process.
- Index workpieces and feed wheels, adjusting the depth of cuts by sight and feel.
- Verify dimensions of ground workpieces to ensure they meet specifications.
- Perform grinding on metallic materials.
- Change worn tools and clean machines, tooling, and parts.
- Operate bench grinders to sharpen tools as needed.
- Conduct light machine maintenance, such as checking oil and coolant levels.
- Occasional requirement to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
