Harness Designer
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Salary Range: $80K–$90K
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex vehicle harness systems using CAD software.
- Create and manage 2D/3D harness drawings, including revision history and configuration management.
- Analyze and derive harness requirements to meet customer needs.
- Conduct trade studies and provide solutions for system integration challenges.
- Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure project success.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues and provide design updates.
- Apply ASME and GD&T standards to ensure accuracy and consistency in designs.
- Education: Associate degree in Product Design or equivalent experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years in harness design, preferably in defense vehicle programs.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as PTC Creo, UG Nx, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
- Familiarity with U.S. DoD standards and processes.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary and regulated industry environment.
- Practical, hands-on attitude with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
