Job Title: Harness Design Engineer Specialist –Electrical Systems
Location: Sterling Heights, MI (Onsite)
Position Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $39.29 –$45.71/hour
Openings: 1 (Re-opened due to increased workload)

Position Overview
Contract Professionals, Inc. Is seeking a Harness Design Engineer Specialist to support electrical harness development for next-generation military ground vehicles. This role focuses on the design and construction of vehicle-level wiring harness systems within a high-performance defense environment.

The selected candidate will work within the Harness Engineering Group to support system-level electrical integration across complex vehicle platforms.

Key Responsibilities
•Design electrical wiring harnesses including connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, and transitions
•Determine harness layout and branch routing for multi-branch vehicle harness systems
•Design harnesses to meet environmental requirements including temperature, shock, vibration, submergence, and chemical exposure
•Develop harness designs using Capital Harness System (CHS), including Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology
•Collaborate with CAD teams to route harnesses in 3D CAD tools (Creo and/or NX)
•Support development of released drawings for harness assemblies and wiring diagrams
•Interface with systems engineering to define vehicle-level pin interconnects
•Coordinate with physical architecture teams to define routing channels and space claims
•Support engineering documentation and release processes

Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)
•Minimum 1+ year of relevant post-graduate engineering experience
•Ability to balance cost, schedule, and technical priorities
•Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to obtain a U.S. Security clearance
•U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS) –Harness XC, Capital Logic, Capital Topology
•Experience with Pro-E/Creo and/or NX
•Experience in ground combat vehicle environments
•Experience with Microsoft Visio
•Experience using engineering development and test tools

Work Environment Requirements
•Onsite role
•Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as required
•Strong record-keeping and documentation discipline
•Ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary teams
