Job Description:
As the Machine Shop Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the manufacturing processes critical to the production of our cutting-edge slicing and packaging equipment. You will lead a team of skilled technicians and machinists, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety are maintained throughout the production process. Your responsibilities will encompass:
 
  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the machine shop team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively manage and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
Production Oversight:
  • Oversee all aspects of the machine shop operations, including machining, fabrication, assembly, and quality control processes.
  • Ensure adherence to established manufacturing procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols to deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and workflow efficiencies, implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity and profitability.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and support, to translate customer requirements into actionable manufacturing plans.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to provide updates on production progress, address any challenges or issues, and solicit input for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and vendors to procure necessary materials, components, and services, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
  • Implement robust quality assurance measures, including inspection processes, to maintain product quality and reliability throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, equipment utilization, and product quality, leveraging data-driven insights and best practices.
  • Champion a culture of safety awareness and compliance, ensuring all team members adhere to relevant safety regulations and protocols.
 
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in machine shop operations.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of machining processes, CNC programming, fabrication techniques, and quality control methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in project management, problem-solving, and decision-making, with a focus on driving results and achieving operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
  • Prior experience in the baking industry or with packaging equipment manufacturing is a plus.
