Key Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise and mentor the Engineering Department, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Provide technical direction and prioritize tasks for department engineers, ensuring alignment with program requirements.
- Oversee tooling and fixture design planning to support efficient production methods and schedules.
- Attend daily shop meetings to address and resolve manufacturing or quality concerns.
- Analyze workforce utilization, workspace layout, and equipment design to maximize efficiency.
- Collaborate with management and production staff to assess engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness of projects.
- Provide technical guidance for customer RFQs, including processing methods and feasibility verification.
- Lead corrective action initiatives to address root causes and implement engineering changes.
- Champion continuous improvement projects, including researching new methods, implementing improved procedures, and overseeing equipment installations.
- Maintain communication with customers and suppliers to address sales, program timing, or quality issues.
- Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and assist in running related meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience and 5 years of management experience.
- Proficiency in GD&T, blueprint reading, and related technical skills.
- Leadership experience with a proven ability to mentor and guide teams.
- Ideally, experience with CNC manufacturing processes (preferred but not required).
Preferred Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in process improvement, APQP, and corrective action initiatives.
