Salary: $140, 000 –$160, 000 (based on experience)
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to serve as a key plant leader and operational partner to the General Manager at a growing wire harness and cable assembly facility. This is a high-impact leadership role functioning as the plant’s #2 leader, driving engineering execution, manufacturing process stability, quality compliance, and continuous improvement across the operation.
This position is ideal for a floor-driven leader who thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment and can align Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to meet customer delivery and performance goals.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Leadership & Operational Partnership

Act as primary engineering leader and strategic partner to the General Manager

Support daily plant execution and cross-functional prioritization
-
Step in as acting plant leader when needed

Reinforce KPI accountability and execution discipline across departments

Support escalation management for quality, delivery, and engineering risks
Engineering & Manufacturing Execution
-
Lead production engineering, process development, and troubleshooting efforts
-
Drive stable, repeatable manufacturing processes for wire harness and cable assembly

Oversee tooling, fixtures, test methods, and equipment improvements

Provide technical direction to resolve production constraints quickly

Coach and mentor engineering and technical staff
New Product Introduction (NPI)

Lead manufacturing readiness for new product launches and first article builds

Ensure manufacturability, cycle time accuracy, and process capability

Support quoting efforts with labor standards and cost analysis
Documentation & Quality Systems

Oversee work instructions, SOPs, routings, BOMs, and documentation control

Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, UL, IPC, and relevant standards

Lead root cause investigations and CAPA processes (8D, 5-Why, A3, Fishbone)

Manage internal and external audits, ensuring sustained compliance
Continuous Improvement

Drive scrap reduction, efficiency improvements, and throughput optimization

Lead Kaizen initiatives and structured problem-solving efforts

Track and report engineering KPIs to plant leadership
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related technical discipline

6–10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or process engineering

Strong background in wire harness or cable assembly manufacturing (highly preferred)

Hands-on troubleshooting experience in production environments

Ability to read electrical schematics, harness drawings, and engineering prints

Experience supporting NPI and first builds

Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills

Prior Engineering Lead, Supervisor, or Manager experience

Electro-mechanical, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing experience

Lean Manufacturing and structured problem-solving expertise

Experience supporting quoting, labor standards, and cost analysis
