Salary: $90, 000 –$100, 000
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support purchasing, material planning, and supplier management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in electronics manufacturing and wire harness/cable assembly environments who can manage supplier relationships, material flow, and purchasing strategy while supporting production demands.
The Senior Buyer will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure material availability, drive supplier performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a highly visible role that requires strong negotiation skills, urgency, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing and procurement of raw materials, components, supplies, and services
- Manage purchasing activity and material planning to support production schedules
- Monitor MRP data, forecasts, inventory levels, and supplier lead times
- Proactively expedite critical materials to avoid production delays
- Negotiate pricing, supplier agreements, and contract terms
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while improving supplier performance
- Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Drive cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support high-priority and escalated procurement needs across the business
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality teams
- 7–10+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience within manufacturing
- Strong experience in electronics manufacturing and/or wire harness environments preferred
- Background in material planning, supplier management, and MRP-driven purchasing
- Proven negotiation and supplier management experience
- Experience with CETEC ERP is preferred
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field preferred
- Someone who can operate independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong sense of urgency and follow-through
- Hands-on manufacturing purchasing experience
- Ability to build relationships internally and externally
- A proactive buyer who can manage both strategic sourcing and day-to-day procurement demands
