Material Handler
Location: Temple, Texas
Employment Type: Contract- Temp to hire | Hours: Full-Time (40 hrs./week, Mon–Fri)
Pay $24.50 Plus additional SCA of $4.27 per hour
Travel: 50% required
About the Role
You will play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly by ensuring materials are properly received, handled, tracked, and shipped. Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll support production and logistics teams while maintaining accuracy and compliance, including handling sensitive and regulated materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Load, unload, and move materials within the plant, warehouse, or work site
- Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including verifying and recording incoming/outgoing materials
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- Count, weigh, and inspect materials to ensure accuracy and quality
- Use computer systems and Excel spreadsheets to track inventory and update shipping data
- Build crates and prepare materials for shipment, ensuring proper packaging and protection
- Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and shipping documentation
- Handle hazardous materials in compliance with 49 CFR and IATA regulations
- Complete required shipping documentation (e.G., shipping papers, certificates of analysis, 1149s)
- Maintain organized storage areas and support inventory management processes
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–3 years of experience in material handling, warehouse, or logistics roles
- Experience with shipping/receiving and inventory management processes
- Familiarity with forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
- Basic to intermediate Excel skills
- Ability to read and understand technical documents (e.G., MSDS, shipping labels)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull materials as needed
- U.S. Citizenship required (due to government contract requirements)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a defense, aerospace, or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with warehouse management or inventory tracking systems
- Experience handling hazardous materials shipments
