Job Overview
We are looking for a professional with a diverse engineering skillset, strong work habits, and a passion for hands-on project involvement. Successful candidates will support military ground vehicle projects with design and release responsibilities for mechanical components and subsystems. This role involves applying engineering principles to create designs, solve complex problems, and support the build, test, and production of various projects, including updating legacy designs to resolve obsolescence issues and improve manufacturing efficiency. Primary focus areas include seating, battery enclosures, steering and braking controls, shock/vibration isolation, stowage, lighting, and electro-mechanical actuators, with potential involvement in other mechanical systems as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Developing and integrating components per derived requirements, including human factors, safety, environmental, ballistic, and mine blast requirements.
  • Applying knowledge of mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles for mechanical components and complex welded brackets.
  • Directing and coordinating CAD model and drawing development.
  • Ensuring analysis is performed related to the design, development, and implementation of components.
  • Providing support for prototype, production, and sustainment vehicle efforts, including technical corrective action formulation, troubleshooting, and redesign activities.
  • Updating legacy designs to address obsolescence issues and enable efficient manufacturing of complex systems.
  • Collaborating with other team members to ensure products meet requirements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in related roles, with emphasis on mechatronics or electro-mechanical components.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and testing electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience creating fabrication drawings and familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Solid modeling experience with NX or Creo.
  • Practical knowledge of Teamcenter and Vis Mockup.
  • Involvement in root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Highly motivated with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with changing deadlines and priorities.
Additional Information
  • Previous experience working on ground combat vehicles.
  • Background in structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience supporting prototype and/or production build activities.
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
  • May require climbing on/off, working in, and around military vehicles. Must pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space).
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend overtime may be required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to other facilities and military installations if needed.
  • Eligibility to obtain a US security clearance is required. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible.)
