Mechanical Systems Design Engineer
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Pay: $40–$43/hour
Work Type: Onsite / Hybrid (up to 100% onsite as needed)
Clearance: Ability to Obtain Secret | Active Clearance Preferred


Overview:
Seeking a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to support the design, development, and sustainment of vehicle subsystems including mechanisms, battery integration hardware, seating, lighting, doors/hatches, and driver controls for military vehicle platforms.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop 3D CAD concepts and detailed hardware designs
  • Support product development for mechanisms & actuation systems
  • Ensure designs meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering and drafting teams to release production-ready designs
  • Release models and drawings per ASME Y14.100
  • Support manufacturing integration on prototype and production vehicles
  • Assist with testing, verification, and validation of hardware
  • Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts for hardware issues
  • Travel to support other facilities or military installations as needed


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 3–5 years of product design engineering experience
  • Proficiency with NX and/or Creo CAD software
  • Experience with GD&T interpretation and application
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills
  • Ability to work overtime/weekends as needed


Preferred:
  • Experience in defense or aerospace industries
  • Experience with Teamcenter PLM
  • Active DoD Security Clearance
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
