We are actively searching for a talented and experienced Mobility Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and release of advanced engine, drivetrain, suspension, and cooling systems for innovative ground combat vehicles. This assignment is a US Government Contract which requires all applicants to be US Citizens.

Location: Sterling Heights, MI- on site 
Compensation: Hourly Rate is negotiable based on experience level

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer power packs (engine/transmission), drivelines, and suspensions to meet customer specifications.
  • Design power generation systems (e.G., generators/alternators, auxiliary power units) to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop and engineer control systems for optimal vehicle performance.
  • Analyze performance of low-voltage and/or high-voltage electric machines (e.G., generators).
  • Evaluate vehicle mobility performance, identify issues, and propose improvements.
  • Derive vehicle-level performance requirements and develop engineering design specifications.
  • Develop alternative concepts and perform trade study analysis.
  • Design, select, and integrate mobility components and subsystems.
  • Track weight, cost, thermal, power, and other attribute allocations.
  • Develop and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and release drawings to the Engineering Release Plan (ERP).
  • Prepare Statement of Work (SOW), Critical Item Development Specification (CIDS), Interface Control Document (ICD), and Source Selection Plan (SSP) for Request for Proposal (RFP).
  • Manage supplier design development progress, technical action items, and engineering communication.
  • Evaluate supplier cost quotes and perform source selection evaluation of supplier proposals.
  • Provide technical oversight and direction to suppliers during design development and validation.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and proposals and present at formal Design Reviews.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations in a laboratory environment.
  • Investigate, respond, and implement corrective action to production, supplier, or field issues.
  • Support prototype builds, create test plans, execute tests, and generate test reports to validate designs and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, exchange technical information, and provide direction to designers and prototype shop personnel.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering Discipline (Master’s degree viewed favorably).
  • 5+ years of Powertrain engineering experience, including 3 years of relevant Hybrid Electric or Electric Powertrain experience (PHEV, HEV, or EV).
  • Ability to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles;must pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space)
  • Experience in performing preliminary design and analysis.
  • Ability to work in an Integrated Product Team environment and communicate across functional organizations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for vehicle subsystems and performing failure analysis.
  • Proficiency in writing technical reports and modification instructions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including office, shop, test lab, and test site.
The ideal candidate would also have:
  • Eligibility to obtain a US security clearance (Non-US citizens may not be eligible).
  • Previous experience working on ground combat vehicles.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evening or weekend overtime.
  • Familiarity with military standards and test requirements.
  • Willingness for occasional travel to test sites.
