Plant Accountant
Job Description
Location: Roberts, WI
Salary: Up to $130, 000
Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Our client, a growing manufacturer in the wire harness and cable assembly space, is seeking a hands-on Plant Accountant / Controller to support plant-level financial operations and partner closely with leadership.
This role will own cost accounting, margin analysis, FP&A, and month-end close, while working directly with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive profitability and improve financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Ensure GAAP compliance and support internal/external audits
- Manage standard costing, labor rates, overhead, and material costs
- Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, scrap, PPV)
- Partner with Operations to identify cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Perform product and customer-level margin analysis
- Evaluate quoting assumptions vs. Actual performance
- Identify risks and opportunities to improve gross margin
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Build models for headcount, capital spend, and pricing decisions
- Track KPIs such as productivity, utilization, and cost per unit
- Act as a financial partner to plant leadership
- Support new program launches and NPI cost tracking
- Collaborate with Supply Chain on inventory, cash flow, and materials strategy
- Provide input on make vs. Buy decisions and capital investments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–7+ years of manufacturing / plant accounting experience
- Strong background in cost accounting and margin analysis
- Hands-on experience with month-end close
- ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, etc.)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Wire harness, electronics, or complex assembly manufacturing experience
- FP&A exposure supporting plant operations
- CPA, CMA, or MBA
