Job Title: Platform Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Range: $63-$70/hourly

About the Role:
Our client is seeking a Platform Cybersecurity Engineer to support the development, integration, and management of cybersecurity architecture for advanced ground combat vehicle platforms. This role focuses on cyber engineering, C5ISR integration, system security compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure secure, reliable, and mission-ready vehicle systems throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and integration of cybersecurity architecture across military vehicle platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure balanced, compliant, and secure system designs.
  • Develop and implement cybersecurity best practices, engineering processes, and technical standards.
  • Manage system requirements, interface allocations, and compliance documentation, including SWaP-C (Space, Weight, Power, Cooling), reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and manage cybersecurity system requirements, architectures, and design changes.
  • Conduct trade studies and evaluate system-level impacts related to cybersecurity, cost, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and oversee verification plans, testing activities, and field validation efforts.
  • Lead troubleshooting, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and issue resolution for development, production, and fielded systems.
  • Prepare and review Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) documentation and engineering milestone deliverables.
  • Coordinate with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to support requirements decomposition, interface development, and system integration.
  • Evaluate emerging cybersecurity and C5ISR technologies for future vehicle applications.
  • Participate in technical peer reviews and support engineering governance activities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field. Relevant cybersecurity certifications may be considered in lieu of certain educational requirements.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering or cybersecurity experience.
  • Experience supporting engineering or military programs.
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML modeling.
  • Experience with embedded systems cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA).
  • Experience conducting Cyber Tabletop Exercises (CTTX).
  • Knowledge of NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53 cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Experience preparing System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and related cybersecurity documentation.
  • Experience leading technical development teams.
  • Experience supporting military vehicle development and systems integration.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and decompose them into technical system requirements.
  • Experience developing and managing cybersecurity requirements.
  • Familiarity with electronic Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and embedded hardware troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of offensive and defensive cybersecurity concepts.
  • Experience with embedded systems, automotive, or military vehicle technologies.
  • Understanding of software engineering and computer science principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Clearance Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% (primarily domestic).
  • Must be able to climb on, off, and work around military vehicles and pass the Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) for confined spaces.
