Job Description

This opportunity will play a critical role in analyzing technical trade-offs, determining primary hardware components, guiding critical enablers, and working with product management, customers, and suppliers to help ensure fitness for purpose. Incumbent will also be responsible for the definition and documentation of requirements, execution of design, analysis, development, and testing of power storage and management hardware, ensuring successful vehicle application of the electrical power subsystem and overall integration.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working closely with both internal departments and external suppliers. In addition, this position includes a high level of written and oral communication.

On-site presence:
Hybrid - Due to the nature of the work, this role may require on-site presence up to 80%

Responsibilities:
  • Assist more senior engineers in the hardware design execution over the electrification and electric power domain to support multiple products.
  • Development and documentation of component and subsystem requirements for the electrical power subsystem.
  • Developing electrical power components to meet key performance and cost targets by working collaboratively with Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Modeling, Analysis, Cost Engineering, Planning, and Program teams.
  • Participate in component trade studies to select optimized solutions to meet vehicle requirements of range, performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Derive and develop component requirements to meet propulsion system requirements using systems engineering discipline, standard work and analysis / simulation including competitive assessments.
  • Ensure the electrification and electrical power subsystem functions and interfaces are defined and designed in adherence to engineering standard work for the purpose of on-time high quality delivery.
  • Support continuous process improvement, best practices, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide issue resolution and appropriate technical direction for artifacts of responsibility.
  • Limited travel may be required.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineer is required.
  • Masters in Electrical Engineer with industry less experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrification systems, embedded controls development, or electrical controls integration (architecture diagrams, designs, and implementation plans).
  • Demonstrated knowledge in power electronics, theory and principals.
  • The candidate will need to have experience in electric drives, motors and power electronics.
  • Experience in design, development and testing/troubleshooting of electrical hardware.
  • Experience with commercial tools for modeling and simulation of power electronics and electric drives.
  • Experience working in a high-voltage lab and dynamometer environment desired where the candidate experienced voltage battery related failure modes, design and control mitigation strategies and root cause analysis.
  • Should have functional knowledge of electrification and energy storage systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Be a self-starter and working in a fast-paced environment
  • The candidate will need to have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience working on ground based Military Vehicles desired.
  • Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position
  • Able to work overtime when required
