Engineering Support Specialist –Submarine Systems (FT/AN/BYG-1)
Manassas, VA
Up to $48/hour
Position Overview
Seeking a prior Fire Control Technician (FT) with AN/BYG-1 experience to support technical writing, training development, and ILS activities for submarine combat systems. This role focuses on technical documentation, procedure development, and system validation for U.S. Navy programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain technical manuals, procedures, and training materials
  • Review and validate maintenance documents and test procedures
  • Support test events (lab and onboard submarines)
  • Create operations and maintenance documentation (IETMs)
  • Provide SME input on system requirements and enhancements
  • Support ILS and training deliverables for submarine systems
  • Travel to support Navy customers and test activities

Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (4+ years)
  • 2+ additional years of relevant experience (6+ total preferred)
  • Prior U.S. Navy Fire Control Technician (FT) experience
  • Hands-on experience with AN/BYG-1 Combat System

Clearance Requirement
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance REQUIRED
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Key Skills
  • Technical writing & documentation (IETMs, S1000D)
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD documentation standards
  • Tools: MS Office, Visio, XML/SGML tools (XMLSpy preferred)
  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills

Preferred Experience
  • Master Training Specialist (MTS)
  • Experience developing Navy training curriculum
  • Knowledge of CWL / MTWS / submarine launcher systems
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments
  • Experience with instructional design principles

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to travel and support onboard naval operations
  • Ability to work onsite full-time
  • Ability to work flex/shift schedules during testing

Work Environment
  • Onsite –Manassas, VA
  • Work across lab environments and submarine platforms
