Senior Engineering Support Specialist
Job Description
Location: Middletown, RI
Pay Rate: Up to $42.41/hr.
Basic Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized field OR equivalent experience (4 years job-related experience in lieu of degree)
-
2+ additional years of job-related experience required (Master’s degree may substitute for experience)
Clearance Requirements
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Position Overview
The PCS Test & Integration Engineer will support testing and validation of the Payload Control System (PCS), a critical subsystem within advanced defense platforms. This role supports system integration, verification, troubleshooting, and validation of hardware and software components to ensure operational effectiveness within larger defense architectures.
This position requires hands-on system-level testing experience, strong analytical capability, and familiarity with defense system integration environments.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute PCS test plans, procedures, and validation activities

Perform hardware and software integration testing within larger system environments
-
Troubleshoot and debug system-level issues
-
Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, and test teams to ensure full test coverage

Document results, generate reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders
-
Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and QA processes
-
Support field testing and validation as required
-
Develop test and diagnostic programs, fixtures, and equipment
-
Execute functional, environmental, operational, and performance testing
Required Qualifications

Experience in system testing and validation (defense or aerospace preferred)

Familiarity with Payload Control Systems and subsystem integration
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Experience generating system test work products using established processes and standards
Desired Skills

Experience with advanced defense systems

Knowledge of payload integration within larger combat systems

Proficiency with DOORs, automated testing tools, and scripting languages

Strong understanding of Navy maintenance procedures, particularly combat systems

Experience on Virginia, Seawolf, Ohio, or 688-class submarines

Experience with BYG-1, SWFTS, CIS, or CCE systems
