Job Description
Location: Canton, MI (100% Travel)
Salary: $90, 000–$100, 000 base + bonus
Schedule: Full-Time | Travel required (U.S., Canada, Mexico)
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Field Service Technician / Service Engineer to support customers with on-site troubleshooting, repair, installation, and startup of heavy industrial press equipment. This role is ideal for a mechanically strong, customer-focused technician who enjoys working in the field, solving complex problems, and building strong customer relationships.
You will serve as a technical expert and primary point of contact for customers, supporting both new equipment installations and ongoing service needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and assemble mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems on industrial presses
- Perform startup and commissioning of new equipment at customer sites
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and support PM program development
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and bills of material
- Identify repair needs, spare parts, and upgrade opportunities for customers
- Produce accurate service reports, field documentation, and cost details for invoicing
- Provide customer training and technical support in the field
- Support service sales by identifying parts, service, and upgrade opportunities
- Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure high service satisfaction
- Be available for emergency service support, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately
- Participate in ongoing training for equipment and OSHA safety requirements
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required (Associate’s degree preferred)
- 2–5+ years of experience in field service, machine building, or industrial maintenance
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience (electrical a plus)
- Heavy machinery or press equipment experience required
- Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting experience
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Willingness to travel 100% (U.S., Canada, Mexico)
- Valid passport and driver’s license with clean driving record
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in the field
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman certification
- Experience with industrial press equipment
- German or Portuguese language skills a plus
