Combat Vehicle Mechanic –Retrofit
Colorado Springs, CO | $31.54/hour | Full-Time | Onsite

About the Role
The Combat Vehicle Mechanic in the Retrofit department performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and retrofit modifications to improve the invulnerability and survivability of the Army’s Stryker family of vehicles (FOVs) and related components. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in both shop and field environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Install retrofit kits according to provided instructions

  • Perform scheduled maintenance (periodic and preventative per IETM) to extend vehicle life and support mandated upgrades

  • Conduct unscheduled/emergent maintenance requiring prompt corrective action

  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, computer, and software systems within the Stryker FOV

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and ASME industrial safety standards

  • Complete administrative and technical documentation per contract and regulatory requirements (including FAR)

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support mission success

What You’ll Bring

  • High School diploma or GED required;Associate degree or equivalent technical certification preferred

  • 2–5 years of related mechanic work experience (equivalent military service acceptable)

  • Preferred Background:

    • Stryker vehicle experience

    • Military-trained wheel vehicle mechanic (e.G., Army MOS 63B, 63S, 63W, 63B MCM;USMC MOS 2147, 3521, 3522, 3524)

    • Experience with Stryker, LAV 2.5, or LAV III

    • Documented commercial training and/or field experience

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • Physical requirements: dexterity in both hands, ability to lift/carry up to 70 lbs for 50 feet, and occasional confined space work inside vehicles

  • Strong organizational, housekeeping, and team collaboration skills

  • Multicultural work experience preferred

Additional Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Must meet and maintain ASR guidelines as defined in Standard Practice 2-644

  • Must be able to gain and maintain access to all military installations where work is performed
