Staff Electrical Hardware Engineer –Computing & Interface Products
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Pay Rate: $58-$67/hourly

About the Role
The Staff Electrical Hardware Engineer will support the development of ruggedized electrical hardware and circuit board assemblies used in advanced defense vehicle computing and interface products. This role supports the full product lifecycle from requirements development through design, debug, testing, qualification, and production release.

This position requires experience supporting target detection technologies and modern defense architecture standards including MOSA, SOSA, GCIA, and TSN.

Responsibilities to Anticipate / Expect

  • Design and develop electrical components and subsystems for processing and interface products

  • Generate and review hardware and software requirements, test plans, and design documentation

  • Support full lifecycle development from concept through production delivery

  • Perform circuit design, component selection, prototype debug, and hardware validation

  • Support system architecture analysis, trade studies, and engineering design reviews

  • Develop and implement engineering design fixes and coordinate technical solutions

  • Support hardware IPS processes across all project phases

  • Track design changes, debug status, and hardware/software revision control

  • Lead small projects including schedule, budget, manpower planning, and customer interaction

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

  • 10+ years of relevant electrical hardware design experience

  • Experience using engineering development and electrical test tools

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively on interdisciplinary engineering teams

  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Technical Experience
Experience in several of the following areas is highly desired:

Architecture & Defense Standards

  • Target Detection systems

  • MOSA, SOSA, GCIA, TSN architectures

Electrical Design & Hardware Development

  • Digital and analog circuit design, power design, and thermal analysis

  • Schematic capture, component selection, simulation, and PCB layout

  • EMI/EMC and high-speed signal integrity design

Processing & Embedded Systems

  • Microprocessor-based designs (Intel, AMD, ARM)

  • Single board architectures (VPX, VME, COM Express)

  • Embedded microcontroller development (C, C++, Visual Studio)

Interfaces & Protocols

  • PCIe, DDR, USB, SATA

  • RS422/485, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, Ethernet

  • Graphics and video interfaces (HDMI, DisplayPort, HD-SDI, LVDS)

FPGA & Reliability

  • FPGA design and simulation (Xilinx toolsets)

  • Military qualification standards (MIL-1275, MIL-461, MIL-464, MIL-810)

  • Six Sigma tools including DFMEA and reliability analysis

Additional Information

  • Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

  • Ground combat vehicle experience preferred

  • Occasional evening or weekend support may be required
