Job Title: Survivability Armor Engineer
Location: Troy, MI
Salary Range: $100, 000–$125, 000
 
Role Overview: The Survivability Armor Engineer will focus on designing and developing armor systems for combat vehicles, including metallic and composite armor plating. This role supports integration, testing, and verification activities to ensure crew safety and compliance with government standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop vehicle armor systems and plating.
  • Integrate armor subsystems and participate in testing.
  • Coordinate with Materials Engineers on proper material usage.
  • Create and revise engineering drawings, reports, and procedures.
  • Represent the company in meetings with stakeholders.
  • Travel up to 25%, including occasional trips to Europe.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, or related field).
  • Experience: 5+ years in armor vehicle or plating design.
  • Skills:
    • CAD proficiency.
    • Familiarity with military standards and DoD processes.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Hands-on knowledge of vehicle survivability technologies.
    • Ability to obtain a U.S. Defense clearance (SECRET).
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Military experience.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (e.G., CREO).
  • Understanding of systems engineering standards.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily office-based with some fieldwork.
  • May require overtime and proximity to others in workspace.
