Position Description:
• Research and development of new technologies and features related to cross-functional, distributed systems
• Lead projects with regard to new technology and features, delivering to internal teams
• Ability to build and create system-level prototypes (mechanical, electrical hardware/software, user experience, etc.) to showcase new features, technologies and ideas
• Actively ideate and invent enabling technology and strategies as needed for requested new features
• Interface with cross-functional teams including Ford and supplier Body, Chassis, Electrical Engineering, etc. Teams for feature development, maturation and decision-making
• Work with Human-Centered Design (HCD), User Experience (UX) and related engineers to define optimal user experiences for requested features and/or technologies
• Develop and share relevant technical documentation, presentations, use cases with respect to responsible features/systems/components/modules
• Propose, architect and specify system-level designs, implementations and requirements with respect to responsible features/systems/components/modules
• Perform competitive analysis and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies in the automotive, consumer and commercial fields
• Tryout different feature development methodologies/approaches and drive process improvements to facilitate expedited delivery of features

Skills Preferred:
• Systems Engineering background or broad engineering skillset/interest
• Ability to bring new technologies from concept to implementation in a short time period
• Knowledge and interest in new technology products and cutting-edge features in automotive, consumer and commercial spaces
• Ability to work independently, be proactive, be self-motivated and eager to take responsibility to deliver results
• Ability to manage multiple, concurrent tasks
• Experience with rapid prototyping tools & methods
• Experience with automotive development tools
• Software development and DIY/Maker tools and platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• 3D CAD packaging experience and/or experience in CATIA or other similar programs
• Automotive electronic control modules design and development experience
• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems and how electrical components interface with complex vehicle systems
Experience Required:
3+ years of experience with development of customer-facing features or new technologies
Experience Preferred:
Usage experience with MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody and/or Simulink
Education Required:
Bachelor' s Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree
Education Preferred:
Master' s Degree in an Engineering discipline
