Job Description


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Perform technical publication authoring, text editing, XML tagging and illustration insertion in support of development of technical manual pages for key vehicle programs (Abrams & Stryker).
  • XML authoring, page editing and work package publishing of various levels of technical manual procedures for vehicles including Operator, Field Maintenance and Troubleshooting.
  • Interpret various source type information from engineering groups including procedural mark-ups, drawings, part lists or draft installation instructions to produce paper based and electronic viewer based technical manual pages.

Technical Writers who apply must be able to perform the following work tasks:
  • Author procedures using Extensible Markup Language (XML) with Arbortext software.
  • Interpret procedural redline mark-ups into text, tabular and/or illustrative changes in XML.
  • Develop mark-up illustration change requests for submittal to illustration group.
  • Publish, proofread and efficiently edit draft procedures to ensure high quality of work.
  • Meet basic authoring quality standards as set by the department manager and customer.
  • Be available to work limited overtime as required to meet production deadlines.
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Security clearance (if required for projects assigned).

Technical Writer applicants possessing familiar knowledge of the following will be favored:
  • Use of Military Specifications, namely MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-STD 38784.
  • Use of Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) viewers such as EMS-NG and IADS.
  • Use of Military Technical Manuals for Operation, Maintenance and Troubleshooting.
  • Use of Adobe PDF and Microsoft Office Products.

US CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT:
This assignment is a US Government Contract which requires all applicants to be US Citizens.
