Vehicle Systems Engineer (Early Career 1-3 years experience)
Job Description
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Pay Rate: $58–$63/hour
This role requires 1–3 years of experience. New graduates are not being considered at this time.
About the Position
The Vehicle Systems Engineer supports the development and integration of advanced vehicle system architectures on new platform designs. This role focuses on decomposing requirements and modeling system behaviors within a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment using industry-standard tools, specifically CAMEO.
The position requires the ability to understand and represent complex interactions across systems, subsystems, and components to support hardware and software development for ground vehicle platforms.
Work Environment
Due to the nature of the work, this role requires on-site presence up to 100%. Limited remote work may be available each week.
Key Responsibilities

Develop system and subsystem-level requirements, including decomposition and traceability

Capture and review connectivity diagrams at the system/subsystem level using MBSE and/or electrical design tools

Model platform behaviors using SysML diagrams

Support development of vehicle and subsystem integration and test plans

Integrate components into established vehicle architectures

Perform in-lab and/or on-vehicle testing, integration, and verification of system performance
Education & Experience Required
-
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Control Systems, Software Engineering, or related engineering field

Other technical degrees considered with relevant experience

1–3 years of engineering experience

Broad knowledge of systems engineering principles and cross-functional disciplines (electrical, mechanical, etc.)

Demonstrated experience with MBSE methodologies and tools, specifically CAMEO
Desired Technical Experience
Experience in one or more of the following architecture areas is highly preferred:

Mobility Systems (engine, transmission, drive-by-wire, vehicle electronics interfacing, CAN communications)

Vehicle Electronics Systems (schematic development, data networking)
-
Video Systems (camera systems, processing, display integration)
Additional Requirements
-
Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security clearance (non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible)

Ability to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles

Must be able to pass ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) testing for confined spaces
